this is when we were renting the ArtSpace, in 2011. a friend let me use their 4track and their Mac to edit and burn copies of this album.
i spent a lot of time thinking about and fine tuning these songs but i could never play them to my satisfaction.
a big part of this album was my having spent so much time working with building loops from scratch. i finally got my boss super shifter plus i had three kalimbas, two electric with input jacks purchased from NOMO when i first saw them play boston, the third i had strapped a contact mic and hit it to make beats. i also ran everything through a behringer eurorack and used the cheap built in effects to pull off a lot of the sounds, especially the crunchy beat noise you hear a lot, especially in 'Dinosaurs' - it's just me hitting the beat. i had always loved that cruchy bass tone, even when i was a kid. it was fun to be able to record music with it.
